19 145 significant ZVs

ZZV-DRG 2021 contains 29 173 procedures, of which 24 733 are terminal. Of these, 19 145 are significant, and 5 588 are non-significant.

To illustrate the use of ZZV, we need to go back to 2019 as this is the latest data available so far. There were 24,485 terminal codes in the 2019 ZZV-DRG. Of these, 19,108 were significant, and 5,376 were non-significant.

In 2019, the PHCS collectively reported 3,369,384 ZVs. Of all the terminal codes, only 12,162 codes were used for reporting.

The distribution of used and unused codes into significant and non-significant, and their frequency in 2019 and 2018 is shown in Table 1 and Table 2:
